Hi,
I have recently passed the ccsa ng fp3 exam and now see that
Checkpoint have retired some exams. If i want to move onto CCSE do i
have to take VPN-1/FireWall-1 Management I NG to get CCSE or can i go
straight to VPN-1/FireWall-1 Management II NG?
I think i should seen as i passed a CCSA on the current release, but
these IT companies do like to rip us off soemtimes.
Thanks.
The current Checkpoint certification is for NG period, so it doesn't matter
when you took your Management I exam as long as it was for NG and not CP2000
(4.1).

To get CCSA you do the Management I exam. To do the CCSE then you just take
the Management II exam. This is all under the banner of 'NG'. Even NG AI
(the latest release) is really just NG FP4.

You can also now do Management III and get the CCSE+.

Thanks, the exam i took was VPN-1/Firewall-1 Management 1 NG but the new exam is

Check Point NG with Application Intelligence.

Does this mean my exam is now useless and i cant move onto Management II?

Thanks.

As far as I know you can go ahead and take Management II. Checkpoint can't
possibly make people take an exam for every single service pack. When I did
the Management I and II course NG had only just come out and so it was
pre-FP1. A few weeks later FP1 came out and then not long after FP2 came
out. So, we started installing FP2 and then it a matter of a few months
..... FP3! So, we start installing FP3 and then bang!! .... NG AI.

So, here I am, CCSA which was taken when FP2 was out and I haven't even got
around to taking Management II yet and it's a pain in the arse trying to
keep up with all the changes. I can't help but think that Checkpoint are
becomeing a little too much like Microsoft at the moment. However, my CCSA
cert doesn't say FP2, it just says NG.

If I had to take the Management I exam again on NG AI, I simply wouldn't
bother. I only took my exam a year or so ago and so to have to take it again
so soon would be taking the p*!! a bit.

I just passed the CCSE recently (exam NG with AI Management II)

I previously had the CCSA in NG with FP3.

Check Point confirmed that the certs stay relevent within the product
version, i.e. NG.

Anyone with a CCSA in NG can sit the AI Management II exam and qualify
as a CCSE.
