Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers on how to
backup/restore SPLAT checkpoint NG 55 AI.

I have one machine which i want to backup and restore on another cpu
for the purpose of redundancy.

I have tried backup and restore commands with no success
I get errors like unable to restore cp-products and unable to restore
the configuration due to compression errors. I thought that the backups
were somehow faulty so I tried 2 ways
of backing up.. via the web browser, command line -- no luck

I have also had no luck importing the rules. I used the export command
to the TFTP server... I then use import option via the cpconfig command
during the initail setup of the new machine
I get an message saying that the import was successful but the rules
arnt there.

Could someone please let me know what I might be doing wrong. I'd
really appreciate any tip anyone can give me

thanks
Benj

I always used upgrade_export/inport without any problems.

/opt/CPfw1-R55/bin/upgrade_tools/upgrade_export

Hello,

Are you sure you install the right version of SPLAT on your second
machine.

If you mix up VP1/FW-1 PRO and VP1/FW-1 EXPRESS you won't be able to
reload your backup (It did not work in my case).

You can try this on source source machine to verify before transfer
that your backup is ggod.

#tar -ztvf backupfilename.tgz

This will show you all the file that are inside your archive. If you
get error in there,
the process of creating your backup is faulty.

Hope this help.

Can't the backup and restore commands be used? Backup the configuration
to a TFTP server and then restore it to a new SPLAT firewall via TFTP?
